Die Antwoord has released a statement relating their version of events before, during, and after those depicted in the video.

After release of the video the Louder Than Life and Life is Beautiful events were the first to drop Die Antwoord from their festivals.

Throughout and after physical confrontation initiated by Ninja, Visser repeatedly calls Butler, who is openly gay, 'faggot.' The pair have been accused of fabricating a story to explain their assault as, later in the video, Ninja can be heard clarifying first that Butler sexually assaulted a young girl, but that story quickly alters to indicate Visser herself was the victim. The news keeps getting worse for the stars of the 2015 film Chappie, as Riot Fest has announced via social media that they have dropped the South African duo Die Antwoord from this year's event.Įarlier this month a video from 2012 surfaced which shows Ninja (Watkin Tudor Jones) and Yolandi Visser of Die Antwoord perpetrating a hate crime against Andy Butler of Hercules and Love Affair.
